FAVORITE BOOKS
I love to read children’s books especially those that have earned the Newbery Medal. The award is given annually to the year’s most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. Some of my favorites (and my daughters also) are Caddie Woodlawn by Brink (1936), The Twenty-One Balloons by DuBois (1948), Island of the Blue Dolphins by O’Dell (1961), A Wrinkle in Time by L’Engle (1963), The Giver by Lowry (1994), Holes by Sachar (1999), and A Single Shard by Park (2002). The winner for 2007 is The Power of Lucky by Susan Patron.
